I grew up watching the 80s Transformers cartoon. I played with the transformable vehicles, and maybe I still do! I watched that fantastic The Transformers: The Movie — blew my kid mind open! I even bought the incredible soundtrack!
I couldn’t get into the Michael Bay releases. The rendering of the robots killed it for me, and when two or more Transformers began mixing it up, it was very difficult to tell what was happening.
The Revenge of the Fallen was on TV recently while we were painting miniatures. My kid and I mused about playing a Transformers game where you are part of Sector Seven/NEST hunting down Decepticons in hiding. NEST, the Non-biological Extraterrestrial Species Treaty, was designed to create a Human/Autobot force against Decepticons. I got immediately hooked by a scene that played out early in the film. There was a representative from the White House, the President’s man. He had it in for the Autobots, didn’t believe in the NEST cause. He had words with Optimus Prime, leader of the Autobots, and asked if the Autobots would leave Earth peaceably because he thinks the Decepticons were hunting Autobots. If the Autobots left, so would the Decepticons. Optimus said yes, they would go but asked what if the humans are wrong about the Decepticons? What if the Decepticons didn’t leave?

I want to play there, right after the Autobots leave Earth and the Decepticons stayed. The humans were wrong.
