Four episodes in
Muses of Play is the show where Sarah Doom and I talk to other designers about the creative work. We've released four episodes so far this season, though one was lost to a cloud outage. Here's the whole run.
Muses of Play (Jan 31, 2026, 1:20:09) — Listen. The opener. Sarah and I get into design methodology, when something's actually finished, Kickstarter boundaries, and running a creative practice around parenting. First appearance of the three-influence pillar and the weekly peer accountability call.
Muses of Play: Powered By The Bakers (Broadcast Cut) (Mar 15, 2026, 59:27) — Listen.
Guests: The WHOLE Baker Family! Games and art growing out of a household that tolerates the mess — creative disagreement without stepping on each other's ownership.
Muses of Play: Powered by the Bakers, Pt. 2 (Apr 20, 2026, 1:02:33) — Listen. The Bakers, deuce!, deeper into the Powered by the Apocalypse ecosystem — why a game never really finishes once it's in community hands. Debuts the closing bit "Ask One For," where the guest leaves a question for whoever's next.
Muses of Play: Reflections (Aug 11, 2026, 57:55) — Listen. Sarah and I look back at the Bakers interview and the one that didn't make it — more on that below.
The one the cloud ate
Episode three was supposed to be an interview with Tim Hutchings. We recorded it, trusted Zoom's cloud storage to hold onto it, and Zoom's cloud storage held it for about thirty days, then didn't. No local backup. It's gone. Tim's coming back to re-record — not a recreation, a new conversation — and it'll run as part of the season finale.
Next Guest: Misha B.
